This tour starts in Nepal and takes you on an exhilarating ride over the roof of the world through the Tibetan Plateau. Tibet and Nepal offer riders a once in a lifetime adventure through one of the last remaining frontiers.

This journey begins with a ride through the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu City, contrasted by the lush green countryside of Nepal via Langtang National Park, to the Base of the highest mountain in the world: Mount Everest and to the famed Potala Palace in Lhasa. This ride offers you stunning mountain views, vibrant Tibetan culture, winding roads, bustling city markets and isolated villages.

This Adventure Journey offers you stunning mountain views, vibrant Tibetan Culture, great roads, busy city markets and remote villages’ en-route. The journey begins by riding through the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu City and then we enter the scenic lush green Agricultural Countryside of Nepal via Langtang National Park. 

Ratekau Day 01: Radevormwald Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,592 ft.)

Upon arrival meet, assist and transfer to hotel for room check in. Introduction to your 500cc Royal Enfield while our team sorts out the paperwork for your Visas to Tibet.

Eve: Welcome dinner at authentic Nepali Restaurant followed by Nepali Cultural program.

Today you can proceed for a guided sightseeing tour of ancient Kathmandu City. You can visit Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple and Bouddhanath Stupa. Meanwhile we will process your visa at Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

Eve: Group welcome dinner at authentic Nepali Restaurent.

Overnight at hotel.


Day 03: Obtain Chinese Visa and Ride to Sybrubesi (1,982 m / 6,500 ft.) – 117 Km / 6~7 Hrs.

In the morning we will obtain your Chinese Visa. After obtaining Chinese Visa start ride towards Sybrubesi. A village nearby new Nepal / Tibet border (Kyrong).

The journey began riding through the hustle and bustle of  Kathmandu City and then through scenic lush green Agricultural Countrysideof Nepal via Langtang National Park. We will stop in Trishuli Bazaar for lunch. After lunch continue ride to Sybrubesi, which is a Tamang Tribesman village. Upon arrival check in at a Teahouse lodge. Rest of the day is for rest.

Dinner and overnight at Teahouse lodge.


Day 04: Ride to Kyrong (Tibet) (2,700 m 8,856 ft.) via Timure (Nepal) – 2 ~3 hrs.

After early breakfast check out lodge and ride to Timure where you will complete Nepal Immigration formalities. Later proceed to Chinese Immigration control and complete immigration & custom formalities. Later ride to Kyrong town which is 24 km from immigration control. Upon arrival check in at a hotel. Rest of the day is free for rest.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.  

Note: All of Tibet is on Beijing time. Due to this, the Ngari region of Tibet, which is so far west of Beijing, is dark at 8 a.m. and there is sunlight until about 9 p.m.


Day 05: Ride to Old Tingri / Xegar (14,262 ft / 4,348 m) via Lake Pigu Tso– 286 / 6~7 hrs.

After breakfast ride to Old Tingri also known as Xegar via Gonda la pass. We can stop at Lake Pigu Tso for some time. Later continue ride to Old Tingri following the friendship Highway.

From here one can  witness the panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu and Makalu.

Day 06

Ride to Shigatse via Lhatse (12,600 ft /3,841 m) – 290 km

After breakfast ride continue through friendship highway and to Shigatse via Lhatse. A day of high passes and more beautiful scenery as we head across the Tibetan plateau.

Day 07: Ride to Lhasa via Friendship Highway (12,000 ft / 3,660 m) – 270 km

Today is your last long ride day to fascinating Tibetan Capital Lhasa. Leave Shigatse after breakfast and ride to Gyantse and continue the ride passing through some beautiful passes. The road is good so riders will get a chance to open up their bikes today. Karo la is our first pass at 16,650 ft it shall take some time while ascending. Then the ride takes us across the Yamdrok lake bed and onto to Khamba La and then a steady descent into the Bramhaputra valley. Arrive Lhasa by late evening & check in the hotel.

Day 08: Sightseeing tour of Lhasa.

Am: After breakfast visit Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill is synonymous with Tibet. The first King Songtsen Gampo expanded it to its present structure during the 17th century. This 13 storey, 1000 room citadel served as the headquarters of the former Church-state” of Tibet and was home to successive Dalai Lamas who, from the later half of the 18th century used it as their “Winter Palace”.

Pm: Jokhang Temple: Situated in the heart of old Lhasa houses Tibet’s most precious religious relic, a golden Sakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese princess Wen Cheng on her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. Devout pilgrims prostrate themselves at the entrance of the temple and make the inner holy circuit to offer yak butter to the gods and pay homage to the golden statue of Sakyamuni. Surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the busy bustling Barkhor Bazaar. A marketplace, which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa. This is the Spiritual Center of Tibet and is also the heart of Lhasa.

Eve: Dinner at authentic Tibetean Restaurant followed by the Tibetan Cultural Show.

Day 09: Ride to Shigatse (12,600 ft. / 3,841 m) via Lake Yamdrok-tso – 351 km.

The journey towards Kathmandu begins. Riding Motorbike along the Friendship Highway we cross the Khamba La (4794m) rom which there is stunning views across the waters of Yamdrok-tso Lake to the snowy summit of Nazin Kang Sa [7252m]. After passing Lake Yamdruk Tso, we will stop in Nagartse for a lunch.

After lunch, continue westwards over another high pass the Karo La [5045m] where we are treated to the spectacular sight of a huge glacier tumbling down to within a few hundred meters of the road. After passing through beautiful valleys and colorful Tibetan villages we arrive in the town of Gyantse. After short rest continue ride to Shigatse which is 90 km and takes around 1 & ½ hrs.

Day 10: Ride to Everest Base Camp (17,056 / 5,200 m) – 352 km

Today we continue along the Friendship Highway, marveling once more at the barren yet spectacular landscape of Tibet. Beyond the small town of Lhatse we cross the highest pass on our journey, the Gyamtso La (5220m). From here we descend to the plains, passing monasteries and camps of nomadic herders. We arrive at New Tingri for lunch.

After lunch continue ride to Everest Base Camp via Rongbuk Monastery and visit the Everest Base Camp. Also known as Dza Rongbuk Gompa and its accompanying hermitage retreats were introduced to the world in the 1920s through the accounts of the first British mountaineering teams.

Day 11 Explore Everest Base Camp & ride to Kerung (8,856 ft. / 2,700 m) 364 km.

This morning we have the opportunity to explore Everest Base Camp (5,200m). The base camp itself is dry and barren, but the views of Everest more than compensate for this. It is a truly awe-inspiring place with the sheer north face of the highest mountain in the world towering above us.

Later we start ride towards Old Tingri for lunch and continue the ride back to Kerung Town, post lunch.

Day 12 : Ride to Kyrong Border exit to Nepal and continue to Sybrubesi (2,250 m / 7,380 ft.)– 41 km.

After breakfast continue ride to Chinese Immigration. After completing immigration & custom formalities exit to Rasuwagadi in Nepal, where you will complete your Nepal entry formalities at Immigration. Later continue ride to Sybrubesi for lunch. Rest of the day is for leisure.

Day 13 : Ride to Kathmandu City (1,400 m / 4,592 ft.) – 140 Km / 5~6 hrs.

After breakfast start ride to Kathmandu. Upon arrival check in at a hotel. Rest of the day is free for leisure.

Day 14: Final Departure.

Free until final departure transfer to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport.
